PGA Tour - CIMB Classic

Marc Leishman shot a 7-under 65 in the final round to win the CIMB Classic on Sunday by five strokes and equal the tournament course record.

The Australian was in fine form as he strolled to his fourth PGA TOUR title and matched Justin Thomas' tournament record of 26-under 262 in 2015 on the TPC Kuala Lumpur West course.

Leishman started strongly with four birdies in the first five holes, before turning in another long birdie putt on the ninth for 31.

Two more birdies on the 10th and 16th followed and sandwiched his lone bogey at the 13th, before he birdied the final hole and celebrated with a fist pump.

"I feel unbelievable right now," Leishman said after securing 500 FedExCup points for his victory.

"I knew that even though I got off to a good start, I still needed to grind because there's some tough holes out there. Managed to hit some good shots and this is the result. It's great to get back in the winner's circle, excited to be back in Malaysia and leaving with this."

European Tour – Sky Sports British Masters

Eddie Pepperell produced a gutsy closing round of 72 to hold off the challenge of Alexander Björk and win his second European Tour title of the season at the Sky Sports British Masters.

The home favourite entered a rainy Sunday at Walton Heath Golf Club with a three-shot lead and while that was reduced to one at the turn, a stunning hole-out eagle on the tenth re-established his cushion.

Bogeys at the 15th and 16th set up a tense finish but Pepperell held his nerve to stay at nine under and beat Swede Björk by two shots.

Australian Lucas Herbert and England's Jordan Smith were at five under, a shot clear of two more Englishmen in Sam Horsfield and Tom Lewis, and American Julian Suri.

Tournament host Justin Rose rounded off his week with a 70 to finish at three under and secure a place in the top ten.

Japan Golf Tour – Japan Open Golf Championship

Yuki Inamori of Japan won the Japan Open Golf Championship at Yokohama Country Club on in Yokohama, Kanagawa, Japan moving to a career best of World No. 115.

Challenge Tour - Hainan Open

Kalle Samooja secured his European Tour status for 2019 by winning the Hainan Open and rocketing to Number Two on the Road to Ras Al Khaimah.

The Finn carded a second successive one under par 71 to post a 15 under par total at Sanya Luhuitou Golf Club, finishing two shots clear of Grant Forrest in second place.

Samooja led from start-to-finish on Day Four but was pushed all the way by Forrest, who was just one shot behind with one hole to play.

However, Forrest was unable to convert a birdie chance on the final hole and Samooja was left with two putts to win. He duly obliged to secure his first European Challenge Tour title, as well as that life-changing European Tour status for next season.

“I’ve been hunting for the trophy for a pretty long time and that’s what made me emotional in the prize giving ceremony,” Samooja said.

“I’ve been close a couple of times and it’s tough to beat all of the guys. Everyone’s hunting for you and holding the lead for the last three days, it’s not easy and it’s also pretty tough mentally.

“It’s huge for me personally. I’ve been hunting for that card for a long time and I think this is the best way to get on the European Tour, by finishing in the top 15 on the Challenge Tour. It’s been a long season and finally I can be sure that I’ll be playing there next year.

“You’ve got to give yourself enough chances and I felt earlier this week that my putter was pretty hot, so I knew that this might be the week if I just kept doing what I was doing.

“Early in the week I couldn’t hold any of the longer putts but I holed all the short momentum putts I needed and it was enough this week.”

With his win in Hainan, Samooja becomes the second Finn to secure their European Tour status via the Challenge Tour this year alongside Kim Koivu and the 30 year old hopes it will consequently pay dividends for Finnish golf.

PGA Tour China - Clearwater Bay Open

Nick Voke, a first-year pro, won his third Series title in four events at the season-ending million Clearwater Bay Open to bank RMB 360,000 and finish third on the Order of Merit, joining four other Tour players on next year’s 2019 Web.com Tour.

Starting the final day five strokes clear of his closest pursuer, Voke shot a third consecutive, 3-under 67 for a 14-under total at The Clearwater Bay Golf and Country Club.

In a dramatic turn of events, England’s Callum Tarren fired a 62 to finish solo second and win the Order of Merit by less than 3,000 RMB ahead of American Charlie Saxon, while Japan’s Yuwa Kosaihira and South Korea’s Todd Baek finished fourth and fifth on the money list, respectively, to also secure Web.com Tour membership.

In the season-finishing tournament, American Benjamin Lein fired a 65 Sunday to secure third place at 10-under, three shots ahead of compatriot Charlie Netzel, Thailand’s Gunn Charoenkul and Australia’s Deyen Lawson.

The 23-year-old Voke continued his remarkable recent run on the PGA TOUR Series-China, which started with a tie for fourth in Suzhou followed by back-to-back wins in Qinhuangdao and Macau last month. After a tie for 16th in last week’s Zhuhai Championship, Voke returned to his winning ways to collect the biggest check presented on the Tour.

“It’s been a really awesome run of golf, and I’m really excited to see what I do in the next couple of years. This win means a hell of a lot, to be honest with you,” said Voke.

“The first couple of victories I managed to come from behind, so to come out here with a five-shot lead and know that everyone is chasing me, it’s a different sort of victory. I’m very proud with how I handled myself and how I went out and played today. It’s absolutely the greatest pro week I’ve had so far.”

Asian Tour - UMA CNS Open Golf Championship

Tirawat Kaewsiribandit of Thailand put together a flawless display of golf as he carded a final-round three-under-par 69 to win the US$300,000 UMA CNS Open Golf Championship on Sunday.

The 28-year-old Tirawat enjoyed a bogey-free round that was highlighted by birdies on the third, eighth and 11th. He signed for a 12-under-par 276 total to win his maiden Asian Tour title by one shot at the historic Karachi Golf Club.

Tirawat turned his season around in victorious fashion after being plagued by a lower back injury in the majority of the year.

Compatriots Jakraphan Premsirigorn and Namchok Tantipokhakul share second place after carding 72 and 73 respectively.

Jakraphan got off to a good start with a birdie and with neck-and-neck with eventual winner, Tirawat. However, a double bogey on 13th seemed to have unravelled his round, but he recovered with a birdie on 16th. Another birdie on 18th would have forced a play-off, but he could only manage a par.

Namchok, the 54-hole leader, made an uncharacteristic double bogey on hole sixth, but he managed to focus on his game and kept pace with his flight mates. He got back into contention with a birdie on 13th but could not find that extra gear in the remainder of his round.

Nordic Golf League - Tourfinalen hosted by Barsebäck Resort

Jacob Glennemo won his third victory this year with a winning score in -10 in front of Aksel Kristoffer Olsen in -8.

PGA Tour LatinoAmerica - Volvo Abierto de Chile 2018

Jared Wolfe’s return to PGA TOUR Latinoamérica has proved to be a great decision. After a disappointing 2018 Web.com Tour season, Wolfe came back to the Tour and each week has been a bit better than the previous.

After missing a cut and tying for ninth in his first two tournaments—in Brazil—Wolfe took home his second career title when he won the Volvo Abierto de Chile on Sunday by two strokes over hard-charging Tano Goya, Felipe Aguilar and Horacio León, who all shot 66s. Wolfe’s final-round 67 was enough as he made eight consecutive pars on his back nine then finished with a flourish, with a birdie on the par-5 18th.

Asian Development Tour – PGM CCM Championship

American Han Lee ended a five-year title drought after signing for a seven-under-par 65 to seal his maiden Asian Development Tour (ADT) victory at the weather-shortened PGM CCM Championship on Saturday.

The 41-year-old Lee overturned a two-shot deficit to claim his maiden ADT victory by two shots on a 13-under-par 203 total over Malaysia’s Wilson Choo, who closed with a 69 to take second place at the RM225,000 (approximately US$58,000) event.

Argentina’s Miguel Carballo posted a 66 to take third place on a 206 total while Korea’s Hyukchul Shin (68) took fourth place on 208 at the Kota Seriemas Golf and Country Club.

Officials were forced to shorten the PGM CCM Championship to 54-holes on Friday, due to several weather delays that resulted in more than 12 hours of play lost. Lee was amongst the 56 players who returned on Saturday morning to complete their third and final round.

Lee played on the Asian Tour in 2007 and 2008, but has been plying his trade on the Japan Golf Tour since then. He claimed his first victory on the Japan circuit in 2012 at the Mynavi ABC Championship and another in Japan in 2013, but has not had a win since then.

With his win, Lee took home six Official World Golf Ranking points and winner’s prize purse of US$9,494 which catapulted him to third place on the ADT Order of Merit.

“I told my caddy to keep an eye on the leaderboard and the guys in front and I knew it would be a close fight. It feels so good to be winning again. It has been a long time since my last win in Japan and everything is starting to come together again. I was striking it well and dropping a lot of putts this week.

“Playing in Japan, you get in a bubble and forget how good players are getting outside of Japan. Here I am playing with guys that are hungry to win every single week and that makes me want to do so much better,” added Lee.

PGA Tour of Australasia - Victorian PGA Championship

Queensland based professional Aaron Pike has won his first professional tournament, taking out a thrilling edition of the Victorian PGA Championship at RACV Cape Schanck Resort.

Pike, who began the final round two shots off the lead, shot 2-under 68 to finish at 10-under the card.

He faced a nervous wait as New Zealander Ryan Chisnall played the 18th hole in the group behind needing a birdie to force a playoff.

Chisnall could only manage par giving Pike the biggest win of his professional career.

“My first win and it feels pretty darn good! It was rollercoaster out there, as I was saying earlier in the week it was just going to be the guy who lasts the longest mentally out there and I feel as though I did really well at that,” said Pike who’s tournament consisted of rounds of 71, 65, 66 and 68 for his 10-under total.

“Today was probably the best I’ve played, but I didn’t make the most of my chances with the putter so to still get over the line is obviously a really good sign for myself.

“I was just grinding and grinding and grinding and wouldn’t let go so it was really good.”

Big Easy Tour – Big Easy Challenge Reading

Pretoria rookie Albert Venter proved that form is temporary but class is permanent as the former top ranked amateur marched to a maiden pro victory in the Big Easy IGT Challenge Tour #11 in Alberton on Wednesday.

The 22-year-old Venter stayed calm in windy conditions at Reading Country Club to win his first title in fine style, closing with a four-under-par 67 for a two shot victory on 11-under 202.

Matt Bright, already a two-time winner this season, carded 70 to finish second.

Michael Kok fired a five-under 66 to claim the low round honours and a share of third with Hendrikus Stoop and overnight leader Hayden Griffiths on seven-under. Stoop returned a 69 and Griffiths signed off with a 75.

Venter started the final day four strokes behind Griffiths, but took grabbed a share of the lead with a birdie-eagle combination at three and four. A further gain at the eighth handed him the outright lead.

“I tapped in for birdie at three and holed a 10-footer for eagle at four,” said the former African Amateur champion. “Hayden birdied the fourth four to join me in front, but he dropped at six and I made a great up-and-down at eight for birdie to take the lead on my own.”

Venter pulled even further clear of the chasing pack with successive birdies at 11 and 12.
