European Tour – Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship

Tommy Fleetwood kept his cool on the back nine to come home in 31 and win his second European Tour title at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship.

The Englishman entered the day a shot behind overnight leader Tyrrell Hatton and turned in 36 on a day of tough scoring and gusting winds at Abu Dhabi Golf Club.

A wonderful chip-in eagle on the tenth then sparked his round to life and three further birdies helped him seal a 17 under total and a one-shot win over US Open champion Dustin Johnson and 2014 winner in Abu Dhabi Pablo Larrazábal.

It was a first win in three years and 150 days for the man who turned 26 on Thursday and has finished in the top 50 in the Race to Dubai Rankings presented by Rolex for the past four seasons. It also continued a fine run of form since last season's Open Championship, with ten top 20 finishes in his last 14 starts and 42 rounds of par or better in his last 43.

Johnson finished with an eagle on the last in a closing 68 with Larrazábal signing for the same score after a roller coaster of a final round.

Austria's Bernd Wiesberger also signed for a 68 in finishing at 15 under alongside three-time champion Martin Kaymer and Thailand's Kiradech Aphibarnrat, who had rounds of 69.

Fleetwood had one top ten in 14 months following the 2015 Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open and is delighted to at last see the hard work pay off with the help of good friend Ian Finnis on the bag.

PGA Tour – CareerBuilder Challenge

Hudson Swafford won the fittingly named CareerBuilder Challenge on Sunday for his first PGA TOUR title, following three straight birdies with a closing par for a one-stroke victory.

Swafford shot a 5-under 67 on the Stadium Course at PGA West to finish the pro-am event at 20-under 268. The 29-year-old former Georgia player earned $1,044,000 and his first spot in the Masters.

"They don't give them away out here. It's not easy," Swafford said. "I've been close. I've been in the heat lately. Just keep putting myself in position, and this just feels unbelievable."

Adam Hadwin came back with a 70 after his third-round 59 to finish second.

"I can't help but be slightly disappointed," Hadwin said. "I really wanted to come out here and kind of prove that yesterday was just kind of a continuation of some good play and kind of get it done today, but I got beat. I felt like I did all the right things. Just a couple shots here and there and who knows what could have happened. But an incredible week, my best finish ever."

Brian Harman and Bud Cauley each shot 69 to tie for third at 18 under.

Swafford tied Cauley for the lead with a 12-foot birdie putt on the par-4 15th, then pulled away on the 16th and 17th -- a day after he dropped three strokes on the holes.

"Stepped up there and hit some really good shots on those two holes, knowing what happened yesterday," Swafford said. "I was just really confident on those two holes today. I knew the bad stuff on those holes were gone. I had already seen it, it had already happened, and just visualizing really good shots."

Asian and Japan Golf Tour - SMBC Singapore Open

Thailand’s Prayad Marksaeng received his early birthday present when he eclipsed his younger rivals with a final round four-under-par 67 to lift his 10th Asian Tour title at the SMBC Singapore Open on Sunday.

The Thai turns 51 in eight days and with the iconic Singapore showpiece celebrating its 51st edition this year, it was perhaps also appropriate its next winner would be born in the year the event was inaugurated.

Prayad’s closing birdie on 18 proved decisive as it gave him a one-shot advantage and also the clubhouse lead while the rest of the field were still out at the Sentosa Golf Club trying to pip him to the title.

Prayad was eventually crowned the newest SMBC Singapore Open champion after a two-hour wait as no one in the chasing pack was able to surmount their challenge and better his four-day total of nine-under-par 275.

Thailand’s Phachara Khongwatmai, South Africa’s Jbe Kruger, Philippines Juvic Pagunsan and defending champion Younghan Song of Korea all had their chances to pip or at least force a play-off with Prayad but that crucial putt in their closing holes simply eluded all of them.

Pro Golf Tour - Red Sea Egyptian Classic

He finally did it: After two second places in 2016, Frenchman Kenny Subregis secured himself his maiden victory at the Red Sea Egyptian Classic 2017 in Ain Sokhna - in a thrilling way: While Portuguese Pedro Figueiredo was in the lead for nearly the whole final round, Subregis took over by scoring an eagle on hole 17. With a total -11 (70, 69, 66) Subregis finished one stroke ahead of Figueiredo.

Asian Development Tour – PGM CCM Seriemas Championship

Martin Dive of Australia claimed a convincing two-shot triumph after closing with a one-under-par 71 at the PGM CCM Seriemas Championship on Saturday.

The 31-year-old won his first Asian Development Tour (ADT) title on a 13-under-par 275 total to defeat Oskar Arvidsson (66) of Sweden and Brett Munson (72) of the United States at the RM220,000 (approximately US$49,000) event.

Panuwat Muenlek settled for fourth place following a 70 for a 278 total while Mohammad Wafiyuddin finished as the highest ranked Malaysian in fifth place thanks to a final round 66 for a 279 aggregate at the Seriemas Golf and Country Club.

After missing out on an Asian Tour card at Qualifying School last week, Dive was delighted to clinch his first international title to kick start his 2017 campaign.

“It feels awesome and really good. It has been a long three weeks on the road and this win will give me the chance to commute back and forth to see my family. This win is certainly a big help,” said Dive.
